Chuck Butler – Founder & Managing Partner




Mr. Butler is the founding Managing Partner of Palomino Capital LLC. He is an expert at leading management teams, lenders and investors through the entire span of the private equity investment process from growth strategy through post-merger integration. Having successfully completed over eighty transactions representing over $2 billion in value, he is also highly skilled at negotiating and maximizing value.

Mr. Butler sits on several boards including his role as chairman Palomino's investments in River Bend Industries, Hospitec and Fortius Solutions.

Mr. Butler formerly led Barrier Advisor's investment bank practice which focused on distressed and out of favor industries. Prior to Barrier, he served as Vice President of Integration with Convergent Communications where he led numerous capital raises and the acquisition /integration of fourteen companies during his tenure.

Mr. Butler spent eight years with PricewaterhouseCoopers' Corporate Finance and Transaction Services practice where he provided M&A advisory, capital raise and post merger integration services primarily for private equity clients in a variety of industries.

Mr. Butler holds a Business Administration degree from the University of Texas at Dallas.

Mr. Butler is active in a number of civic and charitable organizations including serving as an Advisory Board Member to the Cattle Barron's Ball, which raises funds for cancer research and is the nation's single largest fundraising event for the American Cancer Society raising more than $28 million over the last 32 years in an ongoing pursuit of a cure for cancer.


John Toomay – Vice President




As a Vice President with Palomino Capital, Mr. Toomay is primarily responsible for the execution of the firm's financial advisory and merger & acquisition (M&A) engagements. He also holds a board position with River Bend Industries.

Mr. Toomay supports his clients in the structuring, analysis and execution of financial transactions. He assists clients with identification of new opportunities, the preparation of offering materials, as well as marketing to and negotiating with financial and strategic buyers. He has participated in transactions with a variety of industries including manufacturing, media and healthcare companies.

Prior to joining Palomino, Mr. Toomay was an Associate with Mercer Management Consulting in New York. He worked with a broad range of industries including financial services, information technology, consumer products and commercial aviation. He performed analysis and advised clients on developing turnaround strategies, evaluating potential transactions, controlling costs and reengineering core processes. For example, John worked with a private equity firm to evaluate a potential investment in a food processing company. He also worked with United Airlines negotiating debt waivers and supplier contracts as part of United's chapter 11 process.

Mr. Toomay holds a Bachelor of Arts in economics from Brown University and is an Accredited Valuation Analyst (AVA) with the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts. He is a founding committee member of the non-profit organization Giving Opportunities To Others.
